Finance Director pops out for a bag of sugar and comes back with three brand new MG3 cars.

Rebecca Allen only popped out for a bag of sugar – and came back with three shiny new MG3s! But Rebecca, the Finance Director of a specialist engineering company in Sheffield, says she got better value with her fleet of cars than even special supermarket offers.

She explained: “It was one of those amazing coincidences – we were looking for cars for our sales team but nothing we looked at matched our list of requirements.

“At lunchtime I’d just nipped out to our local supermarket when I saw a line-up of MGs at the MG dealer just across the road and decided to pop in. My dad had owned MGs in the past so I knew the brand, but hadn't got up close to the latest models.”

An hour or so later and Rebecca had solved her company’s fleet issue and ordered three new MG3s.

She said: “The more we looked at the MG3 the more they made sense. The price was extremely competitive alone, but then when we looked at all the extra equipment we got on the MGs as standard, it made even stronger financial sense.

“Our sales team all love them and they get a great reception when we go to see clients. Buying the MG3s was a really good move by us and the dealer has provided an excellent service. We couldn't be more pleased.”

Rebecca works for Straaltechniek UK Ltd; an independent specialist shot blasting and engineering company with links to a large Belgium-based group. The UK company was founded 16 years ago by Rebecca’s father and now employs 26 people.

They supply, install and service shot blasting and shot peening equipment throughout the world and also provide a wide range of specialist engineering services ranging from advanced CNC machining to laser and plasma cutting, welding, fabrication and paint shop work.

The company is very proud of the engineering heritage of Sheffield and is a member of the ‘Made in Sheffield’ group.

Rebecca said: “MG’s an iconic British brand and it’s good to know that the cars we have were largely designed and engineered in Britain.”

Chris Grace, Sales Executive at Eric Stead (Garages) Ltd, who supplied the MG3s said: “We are delighted that Rebecca and her team are so pleased with the cars.

“Straaltechniek is a very well known local company and it’s great that they have put their confidence in the MG3. It’s a great car and was way ahead on value of any of the cars that Rebecca had been looking at.”

MG, Well, what can you say, they have tried with the new advert, shame it has not worked for the MG6.

TMW THOUGHTS -

I am not sure what MG UK are trying to achieve here with the new MG6, the car is not in the same class as the MG3, which they are pushing as the "fun" model of the range, and for them to then, re-hash the old MG3 advert and superimpose a few MG6 pictures on that, confuses the car.

The MG6 is not a fun car, not in the same vein as the MG3, so why are they trying to make it look like it is, perhaps they cant afford to produce a proper advert for the new MG6, so this effort will have to do, the way the MG3 is marketed looks like it is a toy car, with lots of bright colours and stickers, and a price to tempt the kids out of the Clio's and Fiesta's, why then tarnish the MG6 with this brush.

They want the car to be a fleet model, but who would want to be seen in this car, why the brand it's self market it this way, MG in the UK, still have not gotten it, go back to the old MG-Rover days, and look at the way they did the MG range of Zeds, that worked really really well, stop with the kiddy colour scheme, that's so last year, get with the modern gentleman, and advertise your products with class and panache, then you might sell a few more MG6 cars.

The latest MG advert, launching the new MG6, will be popping up on TV screens across the country throughout May as part of the latest marketing campaign. The new commercial features the newest addition to the growing marque; the MG6, and incorporates the popular MG3.

The advert will appear on channels from tomorrow and will run until the end of May. The new MG6 offers market leading specification from only £13,995 on the road.

Those tuning into channels including ITV Central, Channel 4 Midlands, as well as a range of national satellite channels including GOLD, Film4, More4 and Dave, will find the new, vibrant advert appearing in the breaks of popular programmes.

UK SALES APRIL - MG MOTORS - The brand continues to grow, and it's great to see.

MG continues its sales success with latest figures revealing April 2015 as the best for April registrations since MG Motor UK was formed. Following the release of the new car registrations from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), MG is pleased to see a 39 per cent increase on April 2014’s figures.

The British marque is also celebrating a 52 per cent increase from last year (year-to-date). MG’s registrations, from January until April, have pushed the manufacturer past the 1,000 mark which means in the first four months of 2015 MG has more than doubled the 2013 figure.

Matthew Cheyne, MG’s Head of Marketing, said: “With the release of the latest figures, it shows the continual growth and success of MG’s sales. These figures are increasing month by month, and this is all before the new MG6 has officially landed.

“As our dealer network grows and dealers sell more, we will continue to expand as a company and we are still pushing for at least 70 dealers by year end.

“With dealer demonstrators going out to our dealer network this week, we have high hopes that based on feedback, demands for test drives and deposits already paid; the new MG6 will bring the brand even more success.”

The iconic British MG brand can trace its history back to 1924 and is world famous for making stylish cars that are fun to drive and own and are sold at remarkably affordable prices. Modern MGs, which are designed, engineered and finally assembled in Longbridge, Birmingham, continue this long and rich MG tradition.

Two cars currently come off the Longbridge assembly lines: the MG6 and the MG3 with several models planned for the immediate and longer-term future.

The MG6 is a medium-sized fastback offering fantastic dynamic handling, high levels of interior comfort and a tremendously spacious cabin area with a cavernous boot. The MG6 won the 2014 Auto Express Driver Power Best Handling Award.

The MG3 is a new generation super-mini which brings fun and style to this sector of the market at very affordable prices. The 1.5-litre petrol-powered car can also be personalised, so owners have the option of giving their car their own style-statement.

MG was voted the third best manufacturer in the UK in the Auto Express Driver Power Awards in 2014. MG was the fastest growing brand in Britain in 2014 as shown by official figures issued by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. Currently MG has the fastest growing network of dealers in the UK as sales continue to surge.

The MG3 hits the nail on the head for Pennie and her New Driving School.

A near tragic accident gave Pennie Alexander a burning passion to teach youngsters to drive safely. But she had almost given up on her ambition until a new MG3 turned Pennie’s dream into reality and has changed her life around.
Just two weeks after Pennie’s daughter Bobbie-Jo passed her driving test, Bobbie-Jo was involved in a horrific accident with a truck on a busy dual-carriageway.
Although Bobbie-Jo wasn’t seriously injured, the mangled wreck of her car was a complete write-off. At just 18-years-old, Bobbie-Jo was traumatized by the accident and it took weeks of patience, encouragement and coaching for Pennie to get her daughter back behind the wheel.

The accident happened six years ago and since then Pennie has dreamed of becoming a driving instructor. She explained: “I was a gymnastics coach for 15 years and always tried my hardest to get the best out of the gymnasts. I loved seeing them achieve new skills and missed the feeling of fulfilment knowing that I’d helped them accomplish their goals.
“Becoming a driving instructor was the obvious way for me to get that sense of gratification and to use my skills to help youngsters learn to drive.
“Bobbie-Jo’s accident was typical of so many involving youngsters, although not all young people are lucky enough to escape injuries. My belief is that you need to teach young drivers from an entirely different perspective than older people.”
But Pennie’s dream of opening a special driving school dedicated to younger drivers had to be put on hold. She explained: “There were always two major hurdles in my way – I just couldn’t find a car that I thought suitable for youngsters, and the cost of cars put the whole plan out the window.
Pennie looked at a raft of small cars, but none came close to fitting the bill, until by chance she found out about the MG3. She had owned an MGF sports car for a few years, so she knew the brand.
Then Pennie discovered that W.H. Brand in Spalding, not far from her home in Wisbech St Mary, was an MG dealer. She said: “I went for a test drive and just couldn’t believe it – the car was exactly what I wanted in every detail.
“I wanted a car that was simple to use and the MG3 ticked that box. I wanted a straightforward un-cluttered layout, and the MG3 was exactly that. I wanted a car that had plenty of vision and was good on clutch and accelerator controls and guess what, the MG3 scored there too.
“I think I would have done the deal there and then anyway because no other car I’d tried came anywhere close. But when they told me the price – that was it, I was dumbfounded.”
So Pennie’s dream driving school, DARE2DRIVE, was formed. Now she is teaching both young learner drivers and is hoping to make contact with schools across the Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk borders to set up off-road teaching for 14-17-year-olds.
She said: “Driving can be a formidable experience for youngsters, but my method of teaching means that even youngsters who have never sat in a driving seat before can start to learn the techniques about car control. That allows them to very quickly build confidence and then they are open-minded about all the key safety messages my method is founded on.
“To be honest, I don’t think I could make this progress so quickly in any other car. It’s because the MG3 is easy to drive, doesn’t distract their concentration, has a brilliant stereo, and fantastic door mirrors giving excellent visibility. For me, and my students, the MG3 is just perfect.”
Adam Brand, of W. H. Brand, said: “We are delighted that Pennie is so obviously pleased with the car. All of our customers are, Pennie is now almost as passionate about the MG3 as she is about her ambitions to teach youngsters how to drive properly and safely.”

DRIVER POWER - MG takes a top ten position in the overall category, the naysayers will still whinge.

The MG3 is riding high in this year’s Driver Power customer satisfaction survey after British motorists voted it the tenth best car to own. Off the back of last year’s success, which saw the MG6 awarded ‘best handling’ and MG voted as third best manufacturer, the iconic British brand has done it again and proven its well deserved place on the road.

The Driver Power survey, from the UK’s biggest selling weekly automotive magazine Auto Express, asked the public ‘which is the best car to own?’. More than 61,000 people responded, providing feedback on reliability through to boot space.

Out of 200 cars, the MG3 was voted overall tenth ‘best car to own’ by customers. In the categories, the MG6, despite losing its first place crown for ‘best handling’, fought off 196 other models and found itself amongst the prestigious Porsche 911, Porsche Boxter and Subaru Impreza.

Matthew Cheyne, MG’s Head of Marketing, said: “We are thrilled to see that once again our customers have praised MG in the Driver Power survey. The support from our customers is greatly valued and we are continuing to go from strength to strength.

“We are really pleased to see that the MG3 and MG6 have performed so well. We expect that with the recent launch of the new MG6, which has already received rave reviews from the media, it will be loved by the customers too and we’ll be celebrating another success in 2016.”

The new MG6 starts from £13,995 and the MG3 starts from £8,399.

MG Celebrates latest Auto Express awards and calls for more dealers to increase its UK presence.

MG Motor UK has done it again and found itself in the top five for best car manufacturer for the second year running. More than 61,000 motorists had their say on what they thought the best cars to own were in the Auto Express Driver Power Satisfaction Survey.

Last year MG celebrated scoring highly for road handling, practicality and seat comfort and this week is no exception.

Whilst MG is down a place in the makers’ chart, the overall score has been improved from other high scores, including running costs, ride quality and in-car technology; which nudged the marque closer to 90 per cent.

MG is also celebrating being one of only two brands in Auto Express’s rankings to rate inside the top half for every category. Only three of the scores were outside the top 10; which is an incredible achievement.

Auto Express said: “It’s hard to see how the company can improve, so the message is keep doing what it’s doing as owners can’t get enough of its cars.”

As MG Motor UK goes from strength to strength, it is calling for more prospective dealers to join the iconic brand and work closely with dealer partners.

Matthew Cheyne, Head of Marketing for MG, said: “We’re looking for more dealers to join us and become part of our growing brand. Any dealers that join us will benefit from the low start-up and running costs, as well as a close relationship throughout.

Often manufacturers can have complicated and demanding start-ups and very strict franchise requirements, but we aim to make the process easy and stress free for those that join us.  We believe in partnerships with our franchises and listen to what they have to say.

“We couldn't be happier that our customers are placing us so highly, and ahead of many luxury and premium rivals. By becoming part of the MG franchise, you are joining a reputable brand that is fully supported and loved by the public.”
