Volvo announces pricing and specs for it's two new Cross Country models, the S60 and V60 CC.
The third and fourth Cross Country models to join Volvo’s portfolio are now available to order as Volvo Car UK announces pricing and specification levels of both the S60 Cross Country and the V60 Cross Country.
The Cross Country brand has a long and distinguished heritage with Volvo being the first premium brand to offer increased all-road capability and styling on its estates as far back as 1997 when it introduced the V70 Cross Country.
Reflecting Volvo’s Scandinavian heritage and love of nature and adventure, both the S60 Cross Country and V60 Cross Country brings together the best of both worlds – a sporty, connected yet comfortable driving experience with the freedom to explore new horizons, combining dynamic styling and rugged capability.
The V60 Cross Country is available in a number of different engines and trim levels, ranging from £30,195 (on-the-road) for the D3 FWD Cross Country SE, up to £38,025 for the D4 AWD Geartronic Cross Country Lux Nav.
The S60 Cross Country is available in two engines and one specification level, the D4 FWD Cross Country Lux Nav (£33,695 OTR) and D4 AWD Geartronic Cross Country Lux Nav (36,725 OTR).
Central to the Cross Country concept is the expression of go-anywhere capability and rugged design. It caters to those who have an active lifestyle and features design cues that heighten the adventurous nature of the car.
Both the S60 Cross Country and V60 Cross Country sport an additional 65mm of ground clearance over the models they are based on. Skid plates front and rear, side scuff plates and bumper extenders convey an imposing, muscular presence that underlies its capable nature, while integrated tailpipes reflect its sporty side.
Other design cues such as the gloss black window trim and door mirrors, unique front grille and unique alloy wheels, available up to 19”, complement the rest of the exterior styling.
Production will commence in May for the V60 Cross Country while the S60 Cross Country will start in June. Deliveries in the UK are expected to take place from June.
Volvo’s new class-leading Drive-E four-cylinder diesel engines will be available in both the S60 Cross Country and V60 Cross Country in the form of the D3 and D4 FWD. Both engines come from Volvo’s new powertrain family, utilising a maximum of 2-litres and 4-cylinders. The proven five-cylinder D4 powertrain will provide the power for the All-Wheel Drive variant.

Ford Motor Company today announced that the all-new Galaxy will be available with all-wheel drive. Ford’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system delivers enhanced traction and road-holding with a seamless transition between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive performance to provide a more secure footing, especially in slippery conditions.
Measuring how the car’s wheels are gripping the road surface every 16 milliseconds – 20 times quicker than it takes to blink – the system can send up to 100 per cent of engine torque to the front or rear wheels, and make required adjustments in just 100 milliseconds.
By only delivering torque where and when it is needed, Intelligent AWD has minimal impact on fuel economy and CO2 emissions compared with permanent four-wheel drive systems.
“Families across Europe have grown up with the Galaxy. Customers are reassured by its ability to carry seven in first-class comfort and safety, and to constantly surprise with its unmatched versatility,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe.
“The all-new Galaxy now delivers even more assurance with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, actively optimising traction for even smoother and more refined journeys.”
Ford is expanding the number of vehicles available with AWD. First available on Kuga, it is also available on the all-new Mondeo and S-MAX and will be offered on the Edge SUV later this year.
More grip on demand
The all-new Galaxy’s Intelligent AWD is always on. The primary goal of Intelligent AWD at low speeds is to improve traction. If, for example, the front of the vehicle is on ice and the rear is not, the all-wheel-drive system can send all the torque the powertrain can produce to the rear, putting power where the driver needs it.
At speeds above 18mph Intelligent AWD is tuned to improve driving feel, handling and responses using information from body control, braking, gearbox and the Electronic Power Assisted Steering.
By sending torque to the rear wheels when cornering at speed, the system can help reduce understeer – those situations when a vehicle’s momentum causes it to continue straight instead of following the driver’s intended path.
“Intelligent AWD activates when it is needed, so it can help Galaxy drivers find grip in wintery conditions and enhance the signature car-like driving dynamics with minimal impact on fuel-efficiency and without affecting refinement.
With Intelligent AWD, Galaxy drivers also can tow up to 2,000kg,” said Ulrich Koesters, vehicle line director, Ford of Europe.
The all-new Galaxy offers Intelligent AWD with the 150PS 2.0-litre TDCi diesel engine and six-speed manual transmission, and with the 180PS 2.0-litre TDCi engine and six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission.
Galaxy can also be equipped with a 120PS version of the 2.0-litre TDCi engine, and Ford’s new 210PS 2.0-litre TDCi bi-turbo diesel engine that offers enhanced responsiveness and 450Nm of torque from 2,000 rpm.
Petrol engine options include Ford’s new fuel-efficient 160PS 1.5-litre EcoBoost and 240PS 2.0-litre EcoBoost, and the entire Galaxy engine range meets Euro Stage VI emissions standards with CO2 emissions from 129 g/km* supported by Smart Regenerative Charging, Auto-Start-Stop and Active Grille Shutter technologies.
First-class travel
Ford also today announced prices for the all-new Galaxy. Available to order now in Zetec, Titanium and Titanium X series, it will start from £26,445.
Featuring the company’s latest global design language with a sophisticated grille and slim-line headlamps, the all-new Galaxy offers seven full-size seats, with practical innovations, class-leading refinement, and advanced driver assistance technologies.
Families can easily switch between seating and load space with a segment-first feature that raises third-row seats at the push of a button. Comfort is enhanced for front seat passengers with massaging Ford Multi-Contour Seats; and for rear seat passengers with integral link rear suspension that offers a smoother, quieter ride and more space.
Second- and third-row passengers benefit from up to 10mm more headroom than in the outgoing Galaxy and the third-row seats offer up to 40mm more headroom than key competitors.
The all-new Galaxy also supports drivers in town and on the highway with advanced technologies including:
- Intelligent Speed Limiter, which when activated scans traffic signs and adjusts the throttle to help drivers stay within legal speed limits and avoid fines
- Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, which will reduce the severity of some frontal collisions involving vehicles and pedestrians, or help drivers avoid some impacts altogether
- Glare-Free Highbeam technology within the adaptive LED headlamps, which detects vehicles ahead and fades out light that could dazzle oncoming drivers, while retaining maximum illumination for other areas
- Front Split View Camera, which enhances the driver’s field of vision when pulling out of a parking space or junction with a 180 degree camera system installed at the front of the Galaxy, and displays the image on the 8in high-resolution touchscreen in the centre console
Galaxy takes the nameplate’s signature car-like driving dynamics to a new level with Ford Adaptive Steering technology, which adjusts steering ratio according to speed to optimise manoeuvrability and precision.
The technologically advanced Galaxy seven-seat people mover was revealed for the first time in April earlier this year – on the back of a moving trailer – through a stunt performed with the help of illusionist Darcy Oake.
How to Steal another brands products and get away with it - Well, go to China, they have no morals there.
TMW THOUGHTS - When you spend billions of Pounds, Dollars or Euro's on making your company one of the best there is, offering thousands of people employment around the globe, giving world class products, with style and capability, it then makes a mockery of all this hard work when others can get away with STEALING IT.
It may sound harsh, calling the Chinese brand thieves, but it's plain to see, the stunning and well made, developed and engineered Evoque, has been a worldwide hit for Land Rover, and therefore Jiangling feel that it is perfectly acceptable to Steal other peoples hard work, and the Chinese government thinks that it is acceptable.
REALLY - The Chinese Government thinks that it is acceptable to steal others designs, and allow this other brand to carry on producing a far inferior product, of course Land Rover have nothing really to worry about, the differential in price means that people will buy the Evoque because it is a Land Rover.
The pretend car, well, thats for the masses, but for now, Land Rover will be on their guard and will ensure that in the future, no one will be doing this again - and maybe the Chinese Government should look at themselves and see that by courting foreign brands to give jobs and income, should not be then screwed over, in the end, i know who will be the winner, and thats not the Chinese Government or this fake rip off.

Jaguar Land Rover will not take action against Jiangling Holding Co. over the Chinese joint venture's Land Wind X7, which the U.K. automaker says closely resembles the Range Rover Evoque SUV.
JLR had said it would take "appropriate action" after the X7 was unveiled in November at the Guangzhou auto show in China. Land Wind is a subsidiary of Jiangling Holding Co., a joint venture between Jiangling Motors Co. (Group) and Chongqing Changan Automobile Co.
On Monday at the Shanghai auto show, JLR chief executive Ralf Speth renewed his criticism of Jiangling but said his company cannot prevent the SUV from going on sale. "I really regret that all of a sudden, copy-and-paste is coming up again," Speth told reporters. "There are no laws, there's nothing to protect us, so we have to take it as it is."
The Land Wind X7 will sell in China for about one-third of the price of the Evoque. It has broad fenders, recessed door panels and a sloping roof similar to the Evoque's.
JLR opened a production plant in October near Shanghai. The Evoque has had "steady" sales since production began four weeks ago, according to Bob Grace, who heads the automaker's China operations.
The Land Wind X7 may start sales around July or August at about 150,000 yuan ($24,200), according to Land Wind's website. That compares with the starting price of 448,000 yuan for an Evoque, according to Land Rover's website.
Calls to Jiangling's main line went unanswered. At the Jiangling stand at the Shanghai show, staff handed out four-page brochures outlining specifications for the Land Wind X7. "Imported car? No, China car," read the tag line on one page of the brochure.
