UPDATED: MIAS 2015: Kia Launches More Luxurious Grand Carnival, Sorento (w/ Brochure)

After much speculation, Columbian Autocar Corporation, Kia’s distributor in the Philippines has unveiled the all-new, third-generation Sorento and Grand Carnival. These two new offerings bolster Kia’s presence in the country while giving the Korean brand a more premium positioning. Both models are new from the top-down and are catered to the discerning taste of the upscale market.

MIAS 2015: Subaru Offers Introductory Discount, Free PMS for All-New Legacy, Outback


Subaru is offering a special introductory discount for the first 100 units reserved/booked of their all-new 2015 Legacy and Outback plus a free one-year or 10,000-kilometer PMS. The flagship models, which are celebrating their 25th and 20th anniversary respectively, will be shown to the public at the 2015 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) on April 9.

First Drive: 2015 Subaru Legacy 2.5i-S and Outback 2.5i-S


No turbo? That’s inevitably the first question asked by everyone during the launch of the all-new 2015 Subaru Legacy and Outback in Bangkok. It’s also the one question that Mr. Masayuki Uchida, Senior Project General Manager for both products could easily answer. His response: a turbocharged engine is not in line with the Legacy or Outback’s character. He’s aiming for an executive sedan with a smooth, comfortable, confident, and above all, linear driving experience; a turbocharged engine simply cannot deliver the refinement he wants. Mr. Uchida should know what he’s talking about: the vastly experienced 55-year old has worked on the Legacy since the first-generation model in 1981. This effectively means he’s worked on Subaru’s flagship offering for about half his life.

Subaru has always been different, catering to a kind of customer who desires something a bit more special than your mainstream sedan or crossover. Time and time again, the company has shown that that strategy has worked. For instance, the XV continues to be a brisk seller compared to the Impreza on which it’s based on. And although they’ve strived to iron out the kinks and smoothen the awkwardness with each new model generation, the intrinsic Subaru difference is still there.
