BMW All About Motorsport Heritage at The NY Auto Show
BMW took to New York in order to celebrate their first US motorsports win at the 1975 12 Hours of Sebring, as well as Alpina's 50th anniversary by debuting the 2016 Alpina B6 Gran Coupe.
BMW's stand was brimming with red, white and those beautiful two shades of blue - since for us it might as well have been 50 shades of awesome. We just love the look of BMW Z4 GTLM, as well as the 3.0 CSL.
If you remember, we saw this very same 3.0 CSL in Detroit earlier this year, and fell in love with it. There's just something about classic Bimmers, isn't there?
As for the Z4 GTLM, unfortunately it didn't do too well this year at Sebring, but that's beside the point - unlike its 4.4 liter 480 HP V8 power unit, which should be an absolute beast in any car weighing just 1,250kg.
As for Alpina, they're offering up their B6 Gran Coupe to the American public while also honoring their racing heritage by displaying it next to the epic 1970 BMW 2002ti racer. In terms of power, this pretty little thing had a 2.0 liter engine, good for 220 HP which at the time wasn't anything to laugh at.
The B6 Gran Coupe is powered by a 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8, producing 600 HP and 590 lb-ft of peak torque. On paper, that's good enough to get you from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and hit an electronically limited top speed of 200 mph (321 km/h).
The Alpina B6 GC will arrive in U.S dealerships this June, with prices expected to be announced around that time.
