2016 Jaguar XF Debuts in New York, Does 0-60 in 5 Seconds
Since the all-new 2016 Jaguar XF has its world motor show debut today in New York, the automaker has released new details along with a mega photo gallery and new videos of the new luxury sedan.
The 2016 XF is an all-new car underneath the familiar design, adopting a stretched version of the XE’s iQ[AI] aluminum-intensive architecture, which makes the XF up to 190 kg (419 lbs) lighter than its predecessor. The new structure is also stiffer than the one used on the outgoing XF, by up to 28 percent.
The new car is 7mm shorter and 3mm lower than the previous XF, but has a 51mm longer wheelbase (2,960mm) wheelbase for improved rear seat space with more legroom, knee room and headroom.
With a near 50:50 weight distribution, the new XF features double wishbone and Integral Link suspension, along with an Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) and the Jaguar Configurable Dynamics system that enables the driver to individually alter settings of the dampers, steering, engine and eight-speed automatic transmission.
In North America, the 2016 Jaguar XF will be offered with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 gasoline engine available in two states of tune: 340hp and 380hp. Both versions are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and can be had with either rear- or all-wheel drive.
The 380hp engine is reserved for the Jaguar XF S, which sprints from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5.0 seconds (5.1 seconds for the RWD version) and reaches an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
In Europe and other markets, Jaguar will also offer the new family of Ingenium engines, including a 2.0-liter turbo diesel in two states of tune with 161hp (167PS) and 380Nm or 178hp (180PS) and 430Nm. Additionally, a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo diesel with 296hp (300PS) and 700Nm will be available.
The 2016 Jaguar XF will arrive in US dealerships in winter 2015, with pricing to be announced closer to the on-sale date.
